Catharine was born in 1863. She was the daughter of Thomas Tonkin and Jane Rowe. ^[1]

Catherine with her parents departed Plymouth on the 3rd March 1865 on the Coldstream, Catherine died of Tabes Mesenterica on the 24 Apr 1865 and was buried at sea. ^{[2] [3] [4]}
