Richard Tonkin, son of Richard Tonkin and Jane Williams, was baptised 29 Aug 1847 in St Just in Penwith, Cornwall, England. [1]

Richard Tonkin (age 27, miner) emigrated to Australia on the Countess Russell in 1873, but he, along with others on the voyage, became ill and was quarantined on the ship on arrival, where he died on 7 Jul 1873. [2] [3] [4]
