Biography

Maria Louisa Antoinette Tooth was born on 14 January 1831 in Hobart Town, Van Diemen's Land ^[1], the daughter of John Tooth and Elizabeth Ann Newnham and the sister of Fanny Newnham Tooth, Janet Miriam Josephine Tooth, Catherine Butler Tooth, Charles Frederick Louis Tooth, John Newnham Tooth, Elizabeth Ann Tooth, Nicholas Edward Nelson Tooth, Mary Francis Baldock Tooth, Charlotte Barham Amies Tooth, Agnes Ellen Baldock Tooth and George Alfred Augustus Tooth.

She married Alfred Devenish Meares on 30 January 1861 in New South Wales, Australia ^[2][3] and they were the parents of Charles Edward Meares, Laura Devenish (Meares) Stack, Annie E. Meares, Frederick Meares, Alice Meares and Frank W Meares.

Maria died, when aged 58 years old, on 11 September 1889 in Newtown, New South Wales, Australia ^[4][5] and was buried in the Rookwood General Cemetery, Rookwood, New South Wales, Australia ^[6].
