I was born Betty Jo Toppings at my Grandma, Minnie Adkins and Grandpa Joe Vance's house on Little Harts Creek in Lincoln County, WV. That was in 1946. My Dad, Jennings Toppings, and Mother, Helen Spry were married in Logan, WV in 1943 and Dad went to fight in WWII. We left WV when I was in the 1st grade. We moved to West Jefferson, OH and Dad got a job with General Motors. I grew up in OH till I was 15 and I went back to WV to stay with my Mamaw Minnie and Papa Joe. Those were some of the best times of my life.

I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! This certification requires participation in a project related to the profiles you wish to edit. Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Also, check out our Volunteer Hub to see our projects that really need new members!
Let me know! I can help you figure out if there's a project and introduce you to the project leaders. Welcome aboard!
P.S. - Are you a descendant of the Toppings of Michigan, by any chance? Angeline Topping was my gggf's first wife.

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.
Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.
If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.
Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.
