John delivered mail on horse back around the Dunlow, W.V. area, was a constable at one time and always packed a 32 caliber pistol. He was involved in "three" known shootouts as a constable. In 1921 he made Wayne County News in the Kiahs Creek area (Queens Ridge). His house caught on fire from a wood burning cook stove but got it out. John spent some of his last days with Edgar (Taylor Osborn son) and Nora just over the hill from where he was buried. Edgar was in W.W.2 in the Pacific. John died in the old Guthrie Hospital 6th Avenue & 6th Street, Huntington, Cabell County West Virginia of Apoplexy (stroke). Residence at time of death was 2104 Sycamore Street, Kenova, Wayne County West Virginia. Hillie Perdue was the regisrare. (His daughter) Evidently John was with Hillie shortly before he died.
