I was born in Minnesota, the youngest of eight children, and raised in Ventura, California. I've moved around a bit as an adult and currently live in Maine. I started my genealogical researches on a road trip through rural Minnesota in 2003, and then got more serious on Ancestry in 2006. I have amassed a good deal of information on some branches of my family, but less so on others. My grandfathers were both 1st generation Norwegian-Americans, and my grandmothers' families both trace back to the Puritan Great Migration and even to the Mayflower. Needless to say, I have much more information about my grandmothers' ancestors than on the Norwegians.

Genealogical Notes

My family, down the centuries, is remarkably undistinguished, with scarcely a Notable among us. We trace back to a few Magna Carta barons, if the lines on WikiTree are correct, and there are a couple of Mayflower ancestors back there somewhere, but that was a long time ago! It seems that as soon as the family became notable in any way, my direct ancestors sneaked out the back door and went quietly back to being the dull but respectable yeomanry they were before. In fact, it could be said that my family has been middle class for 500 years, and that's as true of the Norwegians as it is of the English and the Americans.

I've had autosomal DNA tests with both Ancestry and LivingDNA, and a full-sequence mtDNA test with FTDNA. Two of my brothers, my sister and my grand-niece have also tested on Ancestry. My sister has added her GEDmatch ID to her WikiTree profile. Because she had to add it on Genesis, the WikiTree compare feature doesn't work. Presumably, when GEDmatch completes the transition to Genesis, the compare feature will be updated.

Hi Leslie,

I see you joined the England Project back in October.

Hopefully you received the info about the Orphan Trail from Wendy? The Trail is a necessary part of the Project, it help you get used to wikitree and how to find your way around, and it’s helps England because you improve Orphaned unsourced profiles! It’s a win win!

Now it January we are messaging everyone to see if they still want to complete the trail and be part of the project.

Please can you let me know if you still wish to participate? If you do we can get you set up with a Trailblazer to guide you through the process. If not I can ask Wendy to remove you from the Project.

I really hope you decide to continue with us,

Kind regards,

Lizzie, Trailblazer, England Orphan Team

Thanks for the note on Hauser-965 regarding the two sons named George Peter.

I can't research this right now, but I'll make a note of it -- unless you are able to get to it first.
