Biography
Richard was born around 1839. He was baptised on 12 May in Withypool by parents James and Mary. James was a Shoemaker and the family lived in Dulverton. [1]
The Reverend Richard Tout was born in 1839 at Withypoole England. He was educated at Bristol Congregational College. He worked for Congregational Church in Eng 6 yrs & came to NZ in 1874, on the Merope & became minister of Congregational Church Ferry Rd Chch 1874; he served in Presbyterian Church Sefton 3 yrs..
On 15 November 1863 age 24yrs he married Jane Stepleton Webber 22yrs in Pontypool, Monmouthshire Wales. Richard was a Cordwainer (Shoemaker) like his father James. Jane's father Nicholas Webber was deceased. [2]
A year later they had Mary Jane nicknamed Polly who later married Andrew Wesley Alexander in 1866 they had Amelia who remained a spinster. Both daughters were born in Wales. In 1869 they had Percy Stapleton born in Kings Norton, Worcester.
They moved to a farm in the Nth Island, New Zealand, Richard died 1931, aged 92
