Biography

Walter Towers son of William Towers and his wife, Mercy Gridley, was born on the 3rd of September 1875 and was baptised at St Mary Magdalene in Richmond, Surrey on the 17th of October following. [1] His father was a bricklayer supporting his large family in Battersea in 1881. [2] They'd moved to Mortlake by 1891. [3]

On the 19th of April 1897 at Christ Church in Richmond Walter married Mary Ann Abdey, daughter of William Abdey [4] and his wife, Eliza Grace. Like his father, Walter was a bricklayer and he and Mary Ann settled in Richmond. [5][6]
