Henry Townsend II's parents were living at Warwick, Colony of Rhode Island between 1647 and 1656 which is documented by numerous primary records of Warwick. And Oyster Bay was not established until 1653. Townsends did not move to Oyster Bay until 1661. See also "A Memorial of John, Henry and Richard Townsend" and "Oyster Bay Town Records," 185. The families of this couple lived in Oyster Bay at this time. After careful analysis of the bigger family picture, this marriage date for this couple is suggested by Harry Macy, Jr. and that Henry Townsend II and wife Deborah Underhill were the parents of the Elizabeth Townsend who married Joseph Ludlam (3), son of Joseph Ludlam (2), son of William Ludlam (1). Please read the entire article: "Three Elizabeth Ludlams of Oyster Bay," New York Genealogical and Biographical Record, volume 131, no. 2, "April 2000): 109. Thus the wife of Joseph Ludlam (3) had the same name as his own mother Elizabeth (2) (Townsend) Wright Ludlam who was Henry Townsend II's first cousin. The article stated, "Dr. Townsend's statement...is probably the most reliable piece of evidence we will ever find on this subject. The present author therefore concludes that it was Joseph (3) Ludlam who married Elizabeth, daughter of Henry (2) Townsend and Deborah (Underhill) Townsend."
