My grandfathe George Townsend born approximately 1880 in the UK, possibly London. joined the Royal Berks, transport section, was sent to South Africa, Eastern Cape. He married Susan Cholwich whose grandparents came from Devon. He was killed in Colesberg 1 Jan 1900. Received the Queens' medal. His only child George Kew Townsend born 28 Jan 1900, any relation?
