Biography

Emigrated to NZ with his parents aboard the Cressy in 1850 and was District Surveyor for the Lands & Survey Dept, stationed in Akaroa. He was Captain of the Akaroa Boating Club and involved with a number of other societies. He surveyed part of Charteris Bay in 1866. He married Jane 11-05-1865. He and his wife returned to England.

Robert was married to Jane Dickon on 11 May 1865.

by the Rev. W. Aylmer, Robert, youngest son of James Townsend, Esq., to Jane, youngest daughter of Thomas Dicken, Esq., Colton Hall, Staffordshire. No cards.[1]
