Biography

In 1850, Sarah (age 6) lived on the family farm in Greene, Grant County, Indiana, with her parents, Thomas (age 53) and Nancy (age 49), and her siblings: Nancy (age 19), Samuel (age 17), John (age 16), Alexander T. (age 15), and Susan (age 13). Joseph McCarty (age 31) was a hired man from Ireland. The family had $200 in real estate.

Sarah married Thomas Felton on October 4, 1868, in Sylvan, Richland County, Wisconsin. They had the following children:

Matilda N. Felton Barnes November 18,1865–October 8, 1948

George Washington Felton February 7, 1871–August 21, 1929

William Marion Felton May 9, 1872–May 18, 1940

John M. Felton March 24, 1875–July 9, 1876

Sarah A. Felton April 21, 1877–April 22, 1877

In 1870, Sarah (age 26) and Thomas (age 28) farmed in Sylvan with their children: Matilda (age 4) and baby George. Sarah was also enumerated on the 1870 U.S. Census as living in Liberty, Francois County, Missouri, with her mother, Nancy Townsend (age 69) and sister Mary Townsend (age 45).

In 1900, Sarah (age 58) and Thomas (age 61) farmed in Sylvan with their sons: George (29), William, LeRoy (21), and Warren (19).

In 1905, Sarah (age 60) and Thomas (age 66) farmed in Sylvan with their sons: George (age 33), William (age 30), and LeRoy (age 23).

Sarah is buried in the Felton Cemetery, Bosstown, Richland, Wisconsin.
