Biography
Melancthon was baptised at Wandsworth on 25 November 1773 as the son of John and Elizabeth Townsend.[1]
He made his Will at Ringwood on 6 April 1815[2] (which was proved 1 February 1816).
He was buried (age 42) on 22 December 1815 at St Peter and St Paul Ringwood, Hampshire in the stone vault in the churchyard - 'to the Memory of Melanethon Townsend w.d.t.l. December 15 1815 aged 40.'
