Sir CHARLES JAMES TOWNSHEND
Charles James Townshend was born on March 22, 1844 to George Townshend and Elizabeth Lucy Stewart at Amherst NS.[1][2]
He was a lawyer, judge, politician and historian.[3]
On April 23, 1867, Charles married Laura Kinnear (c1848 - 1884) at Amherst NS.[4]
Their residence in Wolfville, Kings, Nova Scotia, Canada nicknamed Raynham.[5]
Children of this marriage are:
George Ernest (1873–1928);
Grace Elizabeth (1874–1875);
Gertrude Laura (1878–1960) = Sherwood[6]
After his first wife's death, Charles married Margaret MacFarlane on October 25, 1887 at Amherst NS.[7]
Children of the 2nd marriage are:
• Charles "Stewart", b. July 15, 1888 at Halifax NS (see: research Notes);
• Cecil "Wray" Townshend (13 Jan 1889 - 8 Jun 1951).[8]
Sir Charles James Townshend died on June 16, 1924 at Wolfville, Kings Co. NS.[9] He is buried in Christ Church Cemetery, Amherst, Cumberland Co. NS, MEMORIAL ID205550154[10]
