George Townsing was a Bounty Immigrant to Tasmania.
George Townsing is conjectured to have been born in early 1832 in Curry Rivel, Somerset, England to parents Charles and Anne. He was baptized with the surname Townsend on 11 Mar 1832 in the parish church in Curry Rivel[1]
George emigrated immigrated initially to the Colony of Van Diemen's Land in 1841 with his parents and two brothers on the ship Tasmania which departed London and voyaged via Port Philip carrying bounty immigrants (22 adults and 16 children)[2][3].[4][5]
In Jun 1846, the family relocated to the Port Phillip District of NSW (now Victoria)[6]
George, aged 74 years, died in Amphitheatre, Victoria in 1906[7]. He was buried in the Amphitheatre Public Cemetery [8]
