Biography
John Henry TOZER was born on 1 July 1830 and christened on 8 August 1830 in Lower Brixham, Torbay, Devon, England[1]. His parents were John TOZER and Ann PERRYMAN.
1851, 20 year old, Gardener, John TOZER was living in St Saviour, Devon, England with his parents, John (age 59, Mason) and Ann (49, Seed Seller) and siblings, Anna (25, Dress Maker), Elizabeth (18, Milliner), Sybella (15), Caroline (13), Hanah (11), Lydia (9) and Margaret (6)[2]
The ship, Hooghly set sail from London, England via Plymouth on 13 April 1856 with the TOZER siblings, John (age 25, Gardener), Elizabeth (23, Domestic Servant) and Caroline (18, Domestic Servant) from Dartmouth St Saviour, Devon and arrived in Port Adelaide, Province of South Australia on 25 July 1856[3][4].
Mary Winter HOPKINS (listed as WINTER) and John TOZER were married on 13 October 1858 in Beechworth, Colony of Victoria[5].
He passed away on 4 July 1880 in Beechworth, Colony of Victoria[6][7] and was buried in Beechworth Cemetery[8].
