James Trail Sr is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A116019.

Name

Name: James /Trail/[4][5]

James Traill, Sr. was born circa 1748, in Prince George's County, Maryland and died after May 2, 1799, in Montgomery County, Maryland, where he is buried. [6][7] James Traill took the Oath of Allegiance in 1778 and is remembered for his Patriotic Service by the Society of the Daughter of the American Revolution as Ancestor # A116019. (Note: his records are found under the surname of Traill , ending with a double "l" ) [8]

In 1763, James received a bequest from his father's will -- a share of a land tract called Buxtons Delight.[9] At that time, the tract fell in Frederick County. After Frederick was partitioned in 1776, the land was part of Montgomery County.[10]

According to the records received by the DAR, his wife's name was Rachel (?nee). Applications for membership in the Society have been made by the descendants of his sons, William Traill, who married Frances Northcroft; James Traill, who married Mary Ann Northcroft; and Archibald Traill, who married Nancy (?nee); and of his daughters, Cassandra, who married Zadock Ford; Jane, who married Benjamin West; Margery, who married Walter Fryer. Application for a possible daughter, Sarah is not proven (see data corrections file, 8/2010)

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:

Parents' birth dates (unsourced) 1718/1720 conflict with James's 1730 birth date. Might he not have born later? It is Thomas, born 1747 {???} who is listed as the first child in Charles Trails wil.

Trail-66 and Trail-63 appear to represent the same person because: There is room for only one James Trail in this family, per his father's 1763 will. Trail-63 has unsourced differences as to dates that need resolution.

Hi Michael,

I believe that this is a duplicate of Trail-159. Dates are only five years apart. Both married Rachel Wofford. I will send merge requests. Please review possible matches carefully before creating new profiles.
