Biography

[1]WEDDING BELLS

Mr Sydney Trask, Adjutant to the Nelson Volunteers, youngest son of Mr Francis Trask, J P., ex-Mayor of Nelson was married yesterday afternoon at St Mary's Church by Dean Mahoney to Miss "Dolly" Driscoll. There was a large attendance at the Church and the occasion was of much interest. The bride was given away by Mr Ernest Trask, brother of the bridegroom, and Mr Harry Lane was "best man," with Misses May and Nellie Driscoll, sisters of the bride, as bridesmaids. The bride wore a handsome dress of oriental satin, trimmed with a transparent yoke of lace, lace chiffon, and orange blossoms, and she also had the usual wreath and veil. The bridesmaids were attired in grey silk tucked and trimmed with lace and satin strappings, surmounted by picture hats. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a beautiful sapphire and diamond ring, and to each of the bridesmaids he gave a gold locket and chain. Mrs Trask, mother of the bridegroom wore a handsome black corded silk, trimmed with jet and her bonnet was of cream and green. The "Wedding March" was played at the church and the wedding breakfast was held at Gunnersbury House, where a number of personal friends of the family were entertained, including Dean Mahoney, Mr John Tinline, Major Wolfe (O.C.D.), and others. The health of the bride and bridegroom and other toasts were proposed and a pleasant afternoon was spent by one and all. The honeymoon will be spent at Christchurch, after which the young couple will reside in one of the new houses owned by Mr F. Trask in Hardy street. It should be mentioned that the wedding gifts are both numerous and costly, comprising handsome silver, eiderdown quilts, point lace and many useful and beautiful articles of domestic plenishing.
