Birth
Wakąjaziwewįga was born about 1840. (censuses)
Name
The 1898 census gives her Hocąk name as Wa-kon-jar-ze-we-win-kaw, which is for Wakąjaziwewįga, "Traveling Yellow Thunderbird", from Wakąjá, "Thunderbird"; zi, "yellow, brown"; we, "to persist, keep after; to go around, to travel"; -wį-, a feminine gender infix; and -ga, a definite article suffix used in personal names. This is, of course, a Thunderbird Clan name.
Marriages
She was formerly married to U. S. Grant (1898 census) , and afterwards, to John Rave. (1917 census) John was living alone in 1915 (census), but by 30 June 1916 was married to Mrs. U. S. Grant. (census)
