Biography

Catherine was born in 1795. She was the daughter of Francis Travis and Nancy Shirley. Catherine married William Lewis. They were the parents of nine children. Her husband died in 1846, and in 1850 she is found living with three of her sons in Platte County, Missouri. By 1860, her youngest son had "gone to Texas" and was living with his new wife and infant child. 63 year old, Grandma Catharine followed him and took up residence next door, perhaps to help out with the baby. Her son, James Lewis, age 33, was living in the home of his mother, Catherine Travis Lewis on the Collin County, TX census of 1860. She passed away on August 8, 1870 in Platte County, Missouri, Burial details are unknown. ^[1]
