Ship Arrival to the Colony of VDL
Tortoise, 1842
From Diane Oldman's Red Coat page - (2021)
The Ship’s Guards and Carers, [4] she mentions William Rummer, and Private Richard Trayhorne, both of whom were in HM Tortoise with the 96th, on their way to Van Diemen’s Land transporting convicts.
They meet again in Western Australia, where Richard's daughter, Susan, and William would marry in Perth, 22 Jul 1852.
Ship Arrival to the Colony of Western Australia
Hashemy 1850
The Hashemy - arrived in WA in 1850 with 131 passengers and 100 convicts, including the family below, as part of the Pensioner Guards and Families [5]
Trayhorne Richard | 43 private; 96th Regiment
Trayhorne Rose | .. wife
Trayhorne Esther | 10 child; (Born Nova Scotia – ? )
Trayhorne Cecil | 6 child; - (This seems to be the only record of him)
Trayhorne Cecillia | 6 child; (Born VDL)
Trayhorne Emma | 5 child
From FamilySearch records, it appears that this couple had eight children; 5 daughters, and three sons; and only the girls surving to adulthood, marrying with children in Perth. The two infant sons were James and Richard. The two girls not listed in the Hashemy, were 18, and 17 years, old enough to be counted as others (or, perhaps servants for another passenger - Captain Bruce).
