Biography

George Trefry was born August 13, 1799, the son of Joshua Pitman Trefry and Elizabeth Kinney of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia[1] [2]

Circa 1822, he married Abigail Perry, daughter of Elisha Perry, and they had children[1], including:

  1. George Kendall Trefry, born June 12, 1823[3], who married Catherine Crowell, daughter of Thomas Crowell on November 5, 1850, and who died September 24, 1899
  2. Anna Clements Trefry Richards, born June 7, 1825, who married David Richards, son of John Richards II, and died March 15, 1887[4] [5]
  3. Silas Clements Trefry, born August 29, 1826, who married Abigal (Bent) Dowley, widow of John Dowley on September 29, 1860; and who died January 8, 1885[6]
  4. Elisha Perry Trefry, September 19, 1828, who married Sarah K. Hitchens, daughter of Richard Hitchens on December 4, 1859; and who died December 4, 1895[7]
  5. Delancy Gesner Trefry, who was born January 24, 1830; who married Rachel M. Westcott, daughter of Robert Westcott[8]
  6. Abigail, born July 10, 1831, who died January 4, 1833
  7. Joseph Foster Crosby Trefry, born February 2, 1833, who died in 1837
  8. Avery Piper Trefry, born May 2, 1834, who died in 1837
  9. Caleb Cook Trefry, born Feb 18, 1836, who died in 1853
  10. Joseph Avery Trefry, born March 22, 1838; who married Mary Emily Brown, daughter of Samuel Brown on December 8, 1863; and who died February 29, 1880[9]
  11. Abigail Maria, born December 9, 1839, who died June 5, 1861
  12. Norman Leander, born June 7, 1844; who married Rosebella Meads Crosby, daughter of Wallace Crosby on January 10, 1864[10]

George Trefry died January 4, 1864[1], and is buried in Arcadia Cemetery in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia[11]
