Biography

Benjamin Trefry was born August 23, 1801, the son of Joshua Pitman Trefry and Elizabeth Kinney of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia[1]

Circa 1823, he married Deborah Hatfield, daughter of Colonel Job Hatfield, and they had children[1] [2] [3], including:

  1. Job Trefry, born circa 1825[4], who married Lydia Ellen Perry, daughter of Captain Edward Perry I on January 29, 1846
  2. Gabriel Trefry, born circa 1825, [5] , who married Mary Brown, daughter of Charles Brown II, and then married Samantha Dakin in 1894[6]
  3. Benjamin Trefry, who married Elizabeth Frye of Onondaga, Michigan and moved to California[7] [8]
  4. George Trefry, who died unmarried
  5. Stephen Trefry, born in 1837, who married Hannah Burns of Lymon Michigan[9], and moved to California[10]
  6. Avery Trefry, born 1838, who married Nellie Wood of New York[11], and moved to California[12] [13] Benjamin and his wife appeared to have moved to Michigan circa 1848 (based on information in their children's records). Benjamin Trefry died January 20, 1867[1], likely in Onondaga Michigan.
