Biography

This profile is part of the Trethewey Name Study.

John was born sometime before his baptism in 1760. He is the son of Joseph Trethewey and Caroline Rickard. He was baptised on 19 October 1760 in St Stephen in Brannel. [1][2]

Research Notes

Note the birth date is close to the parents' marriage date (3 Jun 1760).

A second son, baptised in 1764, is also named John. It is therefore likely that the first John died between 1760 and 1764. There is a burial for a John Trethewy in St Stephen on 11 October 1763, but the register does not note the age or parentage (which would usually be in the case in the death of a child).[3]
