Biographical Sketch and Research Notes

James was the son of Mark and Nancy Schubert Trimble. He married first Francis (Fannie) Tackett and had six children. He married second Sarah (Howes) Baldwin and had five children from this marriage. Sarah had three children from her marriage to James Anthony Baldwin before she married James Trimble.

The children of James and Fannie Tackett Trimble: Sarah, Nancy Jane, John G, Susanah, William Mark, and Louisa Caroline Trimble (Louisa Caroline must have died young. Her birth record is dated 1853, but by the 1860 census she is no longer in James' household. However, I have not yet found a death record for her.)

The children of James and Sarah Howes Baldwin Trimble: Martha Alice, Mary Ellen, Louisa C, Manerva, and Ulysses Grant Trimble

I believe that James Ramey Trimble who many have listed as James' son is actually James Sherman Trimble Ramey, son of James and Fannie's daughter Susanah and her husband Taylor Ramey. He is listed in the 1880 census with James and Sarah as James S. R. Ramey, grandson of the head of household. Later census records show that he used the surname Trimble as his legal name, which makes sense since he had been in James Trimble's household since he was a young child. He was in James and Sarah's household in the 1870 census as James Ramey Trimble, age 5. The census did not record relationships at that time. If anyone has more information on this subject, please let me know.

The children of Sarah Howes and James Anthony Baldwin: James Lewis, Sarah Elizabeth, and Shelby Anthony Baldwin.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:
