Research Notes
No marriage record is known. Identification of this Anne as the wife of Thomas Rogers comes from her father's will, which calls her Anne Rogers. Further certainty comes from a court case.[1] In 1724, Thomas Roger os Westerly, yeoman, and Anne his wife, one of the daughters of Peleg Trip, late of Portsmouth, yeoman, deceased brought suit against Job Shearman of Portsmouth for illegally witholding land in Portsmouth. The land was undivided and held in common with other tenants, which Peleg Tripp in his will dated 6 November 1713 had left to his daughter Ann, as the rest of his right in undivided land not disposed of. The suit also names Anne's brother Job Tripp, who received two-thirds of the property.
