William is the second eldest son of James & Mary (Beard) Trotter. He came to Carroll county around 1833, bringing his mother with him and in company of other Cumberland county, Kentucky families. Married widow, Sarah (Ellis) Anderson.

The early clean photo of his marker was a restoration project undertaken in 1985 for the Trotter reunion. Since then has weathered and become worn once again. Along with that looks like it had been moved from its original place and re-set, now along side of the cement crypt. See original photo, crypt is behind marker.
