Biography

Lee Trotter was born in Kentucky.

Lee Trotter was born 24 March 1893 in Christian County, Kentucky, United States. He was the son of Ezeckiel A Trotter and Sarah B. "Sallie" Messamore.[1][2]

Lee married Zonie Eli on 24 December 1912 in Hopkins County, Kentucky.[3] They were the parents of the following children:

  1. Levia J. "Leva" Trotter [4][5]
  2. Opal M. Trotter [4][5]
  3. James Earl Trotter[5][6]
  4. Lawrence Edward Trotter[6]

On 5 June 1917, when he registered for the draft during World War I, he was living in Dawson Springs, Hopkins, Kentucky, and was described as being of medium height and build, with gray eyes and brown hair. He was employed as a section hand at the I.C. Railroad Company in Dawson Springs, and was married with one child.[7]

The 1920, 1930 and 1940 censuses shows Lee and his family living in Hopkins County, Kentucky. In 1920 he worked for the railroad and, by 1930 he worked in the coal mines.[4][5][6] When he signed his World War II Selective Service System draft registration card on 27 April 1942 in Madisonville, Hopkins, Kentucky, Lee lived in St. Charles, Hopkins, Kentucky, and was employed by the Norton Coal Company based in Nortonville, Hopkins, Kentucky.[8] About 1944, Lee and Zona moved to Evansville, Vanderburgh, Indiana.

Lee Trotter, age 62, died 7 July 1956 at home in Evansville, Vanderburgh, Indiana, and was buried at Union Temple Cemetery in Hopkins County, Kentucky, United States.[9][10]
