Biography

Lydia Elizabeth Troutman was born on March 28, 1845, in Somerset, Somerset, Pennsylvania, to Isaac Troutman and Eliza Heiner.

The 1850 U.S. Census for Somerset, Somerstet, Pennsylvania, finds Elizabeth Troutman in the household of her father, Isaac Troutman. She was 5 years old, born in Pennsylvania. Her younger brothers Jerome, age 3, and Luther, an infant, were also listed, along with her mother, Eliza Troutman, age 27.

The 1870 U.S. Census for Eldorado Township, Benton, Iowa. finds Elizabeth 'Arond' and her family in the household of Jerome Trautman and his wife, Malinda. They are listed as follows: John Arand, 26 years, born in Ohio; Elisabeth Arond, 25 years, born in Pennsylvania; William Arond, 2 years, born in Iowa; Franklin Arond, an infant, born in Iowa.

Elizabeth's infant son, Frankie, died the same year as her husband in 1870.

On October 11, 1874, Elizabeth married Thomas Stormer Robinson. Thomas had two sons, and he and Elizabeth had several more children together.

The 1880 U.S. Census for Eldorado, Benton, Iowa, finds the following family: Thomas S. Robinson, head, age 36, born in OH; Lydia E. Robinson, wife, age 35, born in PA; John Ahrind, stepson, age 13, born in IA; John Robinson, son, age 13, born in OH; William Robinson, son, age 11, born in Ohio; Mareon Robinison, son, age 5, born in IA; Ira Robinson, son, age 3, born in IA; Chauncy Robinson, son, age 2, born in IA. Translation incorrectly gives William's age as 5; see original document.

The 1900 U.S. Census for Alma Township, Alma city Ward 1-3, Harlan Nebraska, finds the following family: Thomas S. Robison, head, age 57, born in OH; Lydia E. Robison, wife, age 55, born in PA; Marion Robison, son, age 24, born in IA; Birdie Robison, daughter, age 20, born in IA; Laura Robison, daughter, age 16, born in NE.

The 1920 U.S. Census for Oxford, Furnas, Nebraska, finds the following family: Thomas S. Robison, head, age 77, born in OH; Elizabeth E. Robison, wife, age 74, born in PA.

Lydia Elizabeth Troutman Ahrend Robison died on November 14, 1925, in Oxord, Furnas, Nebraska. She is buried in Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Harlin, Nebraska, with her second husband.
