During the War of 1812, John Trowbridge served as a private in the 5th Lincoln and 2nd York Militia. John Strowbridge served in the 5th Lincoln from October 17 to 24, 1812 in Captain John Smith’s Company. 
John Strobridge served from November 25 to December 16, 1812 in the same company. 
John Strowbridge served from May 20 to 24, 1813 in Captain Daniel Young’s Company. 
A John Showbidge served from December 17 to 23, 1813 in the 2nd York in a detachment under the command of Ensign Henry Beasley.
