Biography

William Joseph 'Joseph' Trowell

He was born February 2, 1865 and is the son of Nathan Trowell and Sevenah Hart. Joseph grew up in Orange, Florida (now Umatilla, Florida)[1][2] with eight siblings; Mary Ann 'Mollie' Trowell, Rebecca Louisa Trowell, Christopher Isaiah Trowell, Catherine Drucilla Trowell, Sevenah Clotilda Trowell, Gracia Idella Trowell, Romania Mae Trowell and John Christian Trowell along with four half-siblings from her father Nathan's first marriage. They are Robert Franklin Trowell, Nathan Henry Trowell, Charles William Trowell and Lenard Benjamin Trowell.

Joseph married Mary Anna Loux April 19, 1889[3] and they made their home in Umatilla, Florida until her death about 1898. They had no children from this marriage.

Joseph married Anneta Leola 'Nellie' Neeley May 22, 1899[4] and they made their home in Umatilla, Florida;[5][6] Lake Bird, Florida;[7] and Tavares, Florida[8] until her death February 17, 1940. Together they raised seven children; Romania Trowell, Sarah Clotilda 'Sallie' Trowell, Mary Winifred Trowell, Daisy Leola Trowell, William Joseph Trowell, Jr and Mildred Drucilla 'Drucie' Trowell. Joseph died April 9, 1953[9] and is buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Thomasville, Georgia.[10][11]
