Honora Troy was born in or near Peafield, County Cork, Ireland, the daughter of Patrick Jonathan "Padrig" Troy and his wife Mary Ambrose. Peafield (Cuil na Pise) is located north of Middleton and east of Watergrasshill, mostly in Templebodan Civil Parish, and covered about 1100 Irish acres in 1853.
Honora Troy's baptismal records are recorded in Lisgoold Parish even tho she lived in nearby Templebodan Civil Parish. The church was consecrated to St. John the Baptist in 1860 on a location once known as Templenacarrigna.
Honora Troy was baptized on April 16, 1817, in Lisgoold, County Cork, Ireland, in the Roman Catholic Church. Her sponsors were Bartholomew Cain and Catherine Keefe.
Honora Troy was one of at least seven siblings:
Honora Troy, age 14, is the godmother and baptismal sponsor of John Dennahy, born to Michael Dennahy and his wife Abigail Ambrose in 1831 and baptized on June 14, 1831 at Lisgoold. The godfather is Patrick "Pat" Troy, Jr.. Abigail Ambrose is probably a close relative of Mary Ambrose Troy, and may be a cousin or aunt of Honora Troy and Patrick Troy on their mother's side.
Honora Troy married Daniel McCarthy on February 21, 1846 at Lisgoold RC Parish. Their marriage sponsors are her brother Patrick Troy, Jr. and Joanna McCarthy, probably Daniel's sister.
Honora Troy probably married the the Daniel McCarthy of Ballyleagh townland in Lisgoold Civil Parish, who paid taxes in the House Book Valuations on June 18, 1848.. Ballyleagh is located just to the west of Lisgoold West townland, a few miles north of Carrigtwohill.
Honora Troy survived the Great Potato famine of 1844-1849, but only for a few years, passing away in 1853, about the time of the taking of the Griffith's Valuation Tax census in her area.
Her parents passed away in 1847, a year after her marriage.. So she died in either Peafield or in Monananig most likely, both small townlands not far from their Church in Lisgoold.
Honora Troy is buried at Lisgoold Cemetery in Lisgoold behind the RC church on Church Hill Road near Templebodan in County Cork, Ireland. This is likely at the same church where she was baptized. It was later consecrated to Saint John the Baptist on September 2, 1860.
Honora Troy is likely the same Honora Troy who married Daniel Carthy or McCarthy and had children:
