Bertha was born on 15 May 1874 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Ralph, a painter, and Jennie Truax. [1]
In 1880, the Truax family lived in Adrian, Lenawee, Michigan. The household included R.C. Truax, 31, b. NY, a railroad worker, whose parents were b. NY; his wife Jennie A., 27, b. Vermont, as were her parents; their three children, all b. Michigan, Bertha F., 6; Wells, 3; and Harry, 4 months, b. January 1880. [2]
Bertha married Simon Bolliver “Bime” Bellows. She died after a three stay in Seaside Hospital, Long Beach, California on 23 December 1944, and was buried on the 27th of December with her husband in Long Beach Municipal Cemetery, Long Beach. Bertha died of heart disease and diabetes. Bertha’s last residence was 1227 Appleton Street, Long Beach. She had lived in Long Beach three years, and in California for 60 years. The informant to her death was Barbara B. Ewert. NOTE: The burial record has her birth year and birthplace in error, and Bertha’s grave marker also has the wrong birth year. She was born in 1874 in Michigan, per her birth certificate (above). [3]
