Hannah Trueman's life is obscure. The only fact that stands out with clarity in the records is her marriage on 23 February in St Mary Magdalene's church, Hucknall Torkard in Nottinghamshire.[1] Her husband was George Aleyne, whose name was later altered to Allen, and the marriage produced a son, Joseph, on 7 April, 1754.[2]
For the rest, there is only conjecture. Parish records show members of the Trueman[3] and Aleyne[4] families in Hucknall Torkard through the eighteenth century, so it is likely that Hannah was born there and may indeed be buried in St Mary Magdalene's churchyard.
