Tom Truman aka Trueman was born on 13 Mar 1866 in Polesworth, Warwickshire, England to Harriet Truman. His birth was registered in Atherstone, Warwickshire in the second quarter of the year, with no mother's maiden name (indicating an unmarried mother).[1]
Tom Truman, son of Harriet Truman, was christened on 20 May 1866 in Polesworth.[2]
In 1871 Tom Truman (age 5, Scholar) lived in Polesworth with his grandfather John Truman (55, Brick Layer), grandmother Harriet Truman (58), aunt Jane Truman (16, Servant), and brother/cousin Samuel N Truman (3, Scholar).[3]
In 1881 Tom Samuel Trueman (age 15, Coal Miner/Scholar) lived in Polesworth with his grandfather John Trueman (60, Bricklayer), grandmother Harriet Trueman (65), aunt Jane Trueman (26, Dressmaker), and brother/cousin Samuel N Trueman (13, Scholar).[4] [This is the only record that has a middle name, it may just be an error.]
[Unable to locate Tom for certain on the 1891 census - there is a Tom with no last name listed (age 26, born in Polesworth) living at a military barracks or some such in Portsea, Hampshire that could be him.[5]]
Tom Trueman married Mary Baxter in 1896. The marriage was registered in Atherstone in the second quarter of the year.[6]
In 1901 Thomas Baxter (age 36, Coal Miner Hewer Under Ground) lived in Ashton Under Lyne, Lancashire with his wife Mary A (23) and three children: Irene (3), Agnes (2), and Thomas (0).[7] [Not certain why the family is using the surname Baxter on this census - all other details match.]
In 1911 Tom Trueman (age 45, Coal Miner Hewer) lived in Ashton-under-Lyne with his wife Mary Ann (34) and six children: Irene (13, School), Agnes (12, School), Sam (8, School), Kate (7, School), John (5, School), and Hariet (2).[8]
Tom Trueman passed away in 1920, aged 54 years. His death was registered in Ashton Under Lyne in the first quarter of the year.[9]
