1658 in Muddy Creek Plantation, Accomack, Virginia [1]
Life in Somerset Maryland
In October 1705, John Truitt was listed among many Somerset, Maryland residents indebted to the estate of John Edgar. Edgar was probably an English merchant who was a middleman in the tobacco trade.[2] There are a number of other Truitt family members on the list:
1658 It is thought that John (<GeoI) Truitt was born to George (I) and Alice (Watson) Truitt during 1658 at Muddy Creek Plantation, Accomack County, Virginia.
1670 George (I) Truitt (spelled Trewett)... bequeathed the land in tract A110 at Guilford Creek to his sons as follows: John (<GeoI) Truitt: 200 acres and 50 acres of marsh
1688 John (<GeoI) and Mary (Atkins) Truitt, who already were living in Somerset County, Maryland, sold 200 acres of land and 50 acres of marsh along Guilford Creek in tract A110 [Whitelaw].
1695 On November 11 John (<GeoI) Truitt obtained 300 acres of land called "Truitt's Lot" in Somerset County, Maryland [Coldham].
1697 John (<GeoI) Truitt obtained 100 acres of land called "Wolf's Den" in Somerset County, Maryland [Coldham].
1713 Richard Stevens, a loyal Quaker who died at this time while living on the north side of Wicomico Creek in Somerset County, named George (<GeoI) Truitt and John (<GeoI) Truitt, amongst others, as "overseers" of his will to assist his wife. George and John were members of the Bogerternorton Meeting of the Quakers [Torrence].
1715 On February 24 John (<GeoI) and Mary (Atkins) Truitt sold "Wolf’s Den" (100 acres) in what became Worcester County, Maryland, to Stanton Adkins [Batchelder: 4].
1718 On September 4 John (<GeoI) Truitt was a witness to a neighbor's Will in Somerset County, Maryland [Baldwin].
1722 John (<GeoI) Truitt died in Worcester County, Maryland and his Will was proven May 7. His family was as follows: Wives: (1) Mary (and (2) Rachel?) Sons: Benjamin, Joseph, Solomon, George, and Hezekiah Daughter: Rachel Granddaughters: Rachel and Eliza (Elizabeth?) In his Will he mentions "Spittlefield" and Pocomoke River. [Shannonhouse and Baldwin (1988b)].

The version of John Truitt's will that is entered into the Worcester Maryland Will books differs from Groves's description of his family. Sons George and Hezekiah are not named.

A list of Truitt family members indebted to the estate of John Edgar in October 1705 appears in the Biography. It cites "Tobacco Trade in Maryland" by Paul R. Kebaught, pp1-31, Maryland Historical Magazine. This article does not include the list that appears on the Wiki page. Can you provide me the source for these tobacco list records? I am researching the descendants of George Truitt I, father of John Truitt.
I believe this petition goes with this profile; John's nephew John son of Henry would have been too young to choose his guardian in 1676.

Truitt-504 and Truitt-197 appear to represent the same person because: Hello,
Given the birth and death dates, siblings, parents, and documentation in Truitt Family History: 1066 to 1995, it appears these are the same person? Do you have any objection or concern about merging?

I was searching for John Truitt 1657-1722 and came across this orphaned profile. However, it looks like you already have one. Can we merge?
Thanks,
