Herman was born in Morden Manitoba in 1899. SOURCE: As Far as the Eye Can See; Weyburn centennial book. Herman came from Morden Manitoba with his parents, Ben and Christine McKenzie in 1903 to Weyburn to live with his grandmother to complete the residency required for their homestead after his grandfather had passed away. Sometime after 1914 the family moved to NE 11-7-15. He attended school at Weyburn Plains School. In 1931 he married Ruth Peterson. For years his one and a half ton Maple Leaf truck was available for trucking anything that could be moved -pigs, cattle, lumber, coal from Estevan, and of course grain. In the winter months he worked for Swift's Company in Moose Jaw packing in turkeys. Herman served on the Plains school board and was a councillor for the RM. When teacherages came into being, a building was converted for quarters and stayed in the Trumpour yard for years. Later it was moved to the school yard. He loved to dance the Schottische and both enjoyed Canasta with friends. In 1952 they moved to Weyburn.
