Walter was born about 1822. In 1851 he lived with mother at 6 Westbridge Cottages.[1] He was a copper miner. In 1861 he cannot be found. In 1871 he reappears as an unemployed miner living with a sister in Fitzford Cottages, Tavistock. In 1881 he was at 53 West Street and a retired copper miner. In 1891 he was a retired gold! miner. In 1901 he was at 53 West Street living with a nephew. He was living on his own means. In his will he left effects of £1497.[2] Obviously mining had been good to him. We may wonder whether he went abroad and made a fortune.
