Biography

George was the son of Julius Tryon and Charlotte Cary.

He married Jennie Manning; information derived from his son Raymond's death certificate. His obituary says he had eight children surviving him; seven are listed here based on information in the census records.

Obituary

George Tryon, for many years a resident of Malone, which he made his headquarters while employed as conductor in the train service of the Rutland railroad, died Sunday in Moira, having moved there with his family a couple of months ago. He was the younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Tryon and his early life was spent in that town. He had been in railroad service for 29 years, most of which was spent in the employ of the Rutland road and the companies which during that time have controlled the Ogdensburg division. Failing health compelled him to give up his work as conductor some time ago and accept employment in the freight office in Malone. Finally he was obliged to give up work altogether, since which his decline has been rapid. Anaemia was the cause of death. Mr. Tryon's acquaintance among railroad men of Northern New York was extensive, and all held him in the highest esteem. His age was 50 years. Eight children survive, one brother, Sidney, of Moira, one sister, Mrs. Edith Smith, of Winthrop, and his step-mother, Mrs. Sarah Tryon, of Moira. The funeral took place at the home Tuesday, interment in Morningside cemetery, Malone.[1]
