Biography

I believe Allen to be the son of Eber Tryon and Amy Barber. My reasons:

1) The name Allen or Alan is at that period very unusual
2) This Allen was born at the time when Eber Tryon was known to be living in New York.
3) He appears in the 1850 census in the household of Eber Tryon and wife Amy.
4) He named his only son Francis, perhaps in honor of his sister Frances.

Allen married Betsy Ann Sherman in Knox County, Illinois on 5 Sept 1857.[1]

J A Tryon could actually be G. A. Tryon (George, purported eldest son of Eber and his first wife).

"United States Census, 1860", database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MXHH-DF8 : 30 December 2015), J A Tryon, 1860

I am recording this here as a possible clue to Tryons in Knox, Illinois. The female, Frances here may be the sister, even if J A is not Allen B.

1860 we dont have wherabouts for Allen or Frances yet, however the other woman here is identified as Julia W Tryon, clearly not Allen's wife.
