John was born the son of John Tryon in Wethersfield in 1729 and baptized there on March 2, 1728/9.[1] He married Esther Smith September 22, 1755 in Litchfield, Litchfield Co., Connecticut.[2] He died in Litchfield May 14, 1816.[3]
Text of John Tryon's Will
In the Name of God Amen. I John Tryon of Litchfield Town & County Being of Sound Mind and memory do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament being sensible of the uncertainty of life and the Certainty of Death, firstly I resign my Body to the [Dust?] and my Soul unto God who gave it my body to be buryed at the Discretion of my Executor hereafter named and as to my worldly Estate which I shall leave at my Decease and after my Just Debts are Paid I Dispose of them in the fllowing manner viz
I give and bequeath unto my wife Esther Tryon the use and improvement [next line heavily crossed out, then] of one third Part of my Dwelling house at the North End also the use of the South garden also one bed & furniture to use during her natural life

I give and bequeath unto my three sons & grandson viz my Sons Salmon, Wright & James & my Grandson Joseph Tryon: the remainder of my Estate both real & Portable to be Equally Divided between them

I have heretofore given to my son John late Deceased his portion out of my Estate
And I do hereby appoint my son James Tryon my Executor of this my last Will and Testament
