Clarence Eugene was the son of Eugene Tryon and Martha Taylor.[1]
He is named as a minor receiving a minor's Civil War pension as a result of his father's service in the 12th New York Cavalry from 3 May 1902.[2]
In 1909 he and his brother Harry were both working as bottlers for E. H. Seiling or Selling Co. and living in Boone, Iowa in a boarding house at 1127 Linn.[3]
In 1913 Clarence was working as a brakeman for the C & N W Railway and boarding at 524 Marshall, in an address that was probably next door to where his brother Harry was boarding.[4]
His birth date, place, parents' names and death date are confirmed by his social security applications and claims index entry.[6]
Research Notes
His World War I draft registration document of 1917/8 says he has a wife and two children. His eldest known child, Eugene, was born in 1921 and he married Eugene's mother about 1920. This suggests he may have been previously married and had a family, but who these family members might be is unknown.
