Biography

Abigail was born June 18, 1838 in Athens County, Ohio. She was the daughter of Jason Tryon and Laura Gregg. in 1850, the family lived in Canaan Township, Athens County, Ohio, where her father farmed.^[1] By 1856, her family had moved to Kansas. Abigail married Calvin Lucas in Oskaloosa, Jefferson County, Kansas on August 12, 1856.

By 1860, her parents had moved to Davis County, Kansas. She and Calvin remained in Oskaloosa, where her husband worked as a carpenter, and their children Wallace, Frances, Marshall, and Florence were born.^[2] She and Calvin also had a property in Davis County, Kansas next door to her parents, where Calvin worked as a carpenter, and her brother Pomeroy, her sister Laura, and Laura's husband Charles Harrison lived.^[3]

By 1865, her family was living in Leavenworth County, Kansas, where Calvin farmed, and their children Nathaniel and Carrie were born.^[4] Her daughter Florence passed away somtime before 1870. By 1870, the family was living in Delaware, Wyandotte County, Kansas, where Calvin worked as a railroad contractor, and their children Laura Sarah, Joseph, and Maude were born. Her brother William was also living with them and working as a farm laborer.^[5]

By 1880, the family was living in the Pacific Northwest. Abigail passed away somtime before 1880. Her two youngest daughters were taken in by families in the area. Laura lived with a family in Clackamas County, Oregon, while Maude lived with a family in Klickitat County, Washington.
