John A. was the first of two children named John born to John Tryon and Mary Kervin.
He died aged 12 years, 9 months and 18 days on 13 Apr 1906 at the junction of 32nd and the Pennsylvania Railroad tracks in Philadelphia, of "injuries accidentally received, run over by train".[1] His birth date is taken from the coroner's (death) certificate.
He is buried in the Old Cathedral Cemetery.

TRYON.—Suddenly, on April 13th, '06, JOHN A. son of John B. and Mary M. Tryon, and grandson of John and Katherine Kerwin, aged 12 years 9 months. Relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Tuesday morning at 8.30 o'clock, from his grandparents' residence, 2320 Aspen street. High mass of requiem will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church, for the repose of his soul, at 10 o'clock precisely. Interment at Old Cathedral Cemetery.[2]
