Father's name is John.
Wife: Amanda Phelps or Shepherd (children's death records report mother's surname differently). (One case of Phelps three others Shepherd or variants). Her name appears as Amanda Hatch Shepherd in the DAR lineage books[1] but her line of descent was claimed through her paternal grandmother Nancy Phelps, granddaughter of Abel Phelps.
Anderson was born in 1826.
He appears as county treasurer of Genessee County in 1867.[2][3]
He served as a deputy collector of internal revenue in Batavia in 1877.[4]
Anderson died suddenly in 1905.[5]
The history of Genesee County mentions several times an Andrew D. Tryon, which may be how he was known (he appears under that name in the 1900 census). Andrew D. Tryon was listed as treasurer of the County Board of Supervisors 1867-72 (p. 49), as a business parter to Sidney U. Main (p. 294), and under the name Anderson Tryon living at 439 E. Main in Batavia (p. 55 in the business directory at the end of the history). Other Tryons are listed: Augustus S., Jerome, Washington (later of Toledo, OH).[6] Could these others be his brothers?
ANDERSON D. TRYON DIES OF PARALYSIS
FORMER BATAVIAN EXPIRES IN POUGHKEEPSIE
End Came at the Home of His Daughter, Mrs. Joseph J. Glass—Druggist in This Village Over Thirty Years—Funeral Will be Held Here Thursday.
Anderson D. Tryon, a former well-known resident of Batavia and who for over thirty years was engaged in the drug business in this village, died yesterday morning at the home of his son-in-law Joseph J. Glass, at No. 134 Cannon street, Poughkeepsie.
Mr. Tryon had been in failing health several years and for about ten days previous to Sunday it was apparent that his condition was growing worse. Early on Sunday evening he suffered a stroke of paralysis and sank rapidly until death ensued yesterday morning. He went to Poughkeepsie from Batavia two years ago this month.
Mr. Tryon was born at Florida, Orange county, on May 19, 1826, and consequently would have been 79 years old if he had lived until Friday. He came to Batavia in 1851 and opened a drug store in company with Dr. Oliver Clark. A year later he retired from the firm and moved to Oakfield, where, on August 22, 1852, he was married to Miss Amanda H. Shepard [sic]. He returned to Batavia in 1854 and made his home here practically all the time until his removal to Poughkeepsie. He was engaged in the drug business at No. 57 Main street, where Ellsworth's variety store is now located, from 1854 to January 11, 1887, when he was burned out. Since that time he had not been in active business. From 1867 to 1872 he was county treasurer and during the years of his prime he was actively identified with the business interests of Batavia. Until the day of his death he entertained the warmest affection for Batavia and the friends and associations entered here and he was highly regarded by all residents of this village who knew him.
Besides his wife, Mr. Tryon is survived by two sons, Fred M. Tryon of Washington, D C., and Charles J. Tryon of MInneapolis, Minn., and five daughters, Mrs. Joseph J. Glass and Misses Emma C. and Alice R. Tryon of Poughkeepsie, Miss Myrta A. Tryon, who is now at Pacific Grove, Ca., and Miss Josephine B. Tryon of Winona, Minn. He also leaves six grandchildren.
Mr. Tryon's body will be brought to Batavia on Wednesday evening and the funeral will be held from the Presbyterian chapel on Thursday, at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. H. R. Fancher officiating there. Mr. Tryon was a member of all three of the Masonic bodies and in accordance with his request the service of that order will be used at the grave and Dr. Burkhart will have charge.[8]

I also found that Anderson's wife's family lived adjacent to a family named Dorn, but that was in 1860 in Wisconsin. Also, one of son Charles John Tryon's sons was given the middle name of Dorn as well, and a sister had the middle name of Phelps (maternal grandmother). No idea whether the Shepherds, Phelpses and Dorns both originated from the same part of New York or whether this is a coincidence or is meaningful. But check whether there were Dorns living near any Tryons during that period (1800 - 1830) in NY or any Dorns married into the Tryon family (or Tryons married into the Dorn family).
