Biography

Elijah was born about 1826. He seems to have passed away before 1861 when he is not found in the census. His wife is remarried in the 1871 census.

Research Notes

He is often confused with Elijah Tryon who was born about the same time and died in 1895.

There is speculation that Elijah and his brother William may be the same person, i.e., William Elijah Tryon, same name as his son. Seems unlikely.

In the 1851 census he lives with Abigail, age 17, and Eliza, age 1. When Eliza marries at age 28 she lists her parents as Elijah and Abigail. Abigail and Annie are the same person - see notes on Annie's profile.

"Malici" (age 6) and Sagar Tryon are in the home of Elizabeth Foster on the 1861 Camden East census. Elizabeth Foster was the mother of Abigail Foster who married Marshall Lovelace in 1861, the brother of Jeremiah Lovelace who was the second husband of Elijah's mother (phew!). Seems like Malici is the same person as Calista.
