Biography

Charles was born about 1870, the son of Charles Tryon and Martha Prior. He married Lucy S. and had one child, Warren Stenson. He died in 1904.

Research Notes

His son was Warren Stenson Tryon, b. 15 Oct 1901 in Middletown, CT ^[1]. The passport indicates Warren was 21 and a student at Harvard. His mother, Lucy S. Tryon, attested to his identification.

The 1900 census ^[2] has him 29 years old with wife Lucy S. Tryon age 33.

The death record and FAG memorial for Charles Warren Tryon in 1904 is this Charles because the other known Charles W. Tryon of the right age continues to be found in the next two census and the newspaper death notice below clearly make this him. The memorial marker in the FAG record has simply birth and death years of 1870 and 1904 which doesn't match the inscription records of "died 1904, age 31 years" as well as other records tied to the cemetery record. The inscription record shows him in a group of Prior family graves which would be his mother's family. The only other Tryon in the group is his brother Louis.

Death Notice

"Middletown. Charles W. Tryon, first son of selectman C.C. Tryon and Mrs. Martha Prior Tryon, died at his home last evening, aged 33 years. He leaves a wife and one son, a father, mother, sister, and two brothers. The funeral will be held at his home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Dr. Hazen officiating. Burial at Farm Hill Cemetery." ^[3].
