Biography

John was born before 1834. He is the son of John Tryon and Sarah Whalley. He married Margaret and they had a son John Archibald Tryon in 1860. He died in Dover 28 May 1874 and Margaret died 3 days later. His will was probated 15 Jun 1874 and his sister Julia Elizabeth Tryon was the executor. Margaret's will also probated 4 July 1874 with Julia as executor. Julia was assigned guardian of their son John Archibald.

His son's headstone names his father as Captain John Tryon (39th Foot) and his grandfather as Rev. Thomas Tryon late rector of this Parish. John Tryon is found in many newspaper announcements regarding his military position including his retirement from the 39th Foot in Nov 1872. His son was born in Bermuda so his military position included foreign posts.
