OBITUARY: James Stanton, Tucker, Sr. age 80 of Vernon, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022 in Vernon, Texas.
Services will be Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel.
Stanton was born July 16, 1942 in Vernon, Texas. He was the son of James Douglas Tucker and Willie Mae Johnson Tucker. He married Treva Charelene Broudus in 1961 in Vernon, Texas. He was a graduate of Lockett High School and McMurray University with a business degree. He worked twenty years for Coca Cola in Abilene, TX; where he was production manager. He returned to his family farm in Five-In-One Community, Texas in 1981 to take care of his mother. He managed Taco Plaza for several years and he was a supervisor for eight Dairy Queen’s in Oklahoma and in the Texas Panhandle. He had been a manager for Braum’s in Vernon. He retired to open and run their family business “Grandads Diner” in Blessing Antiques. Stanton was a strong and devoted active member of Western Trail Cowboy Church.
Stanton is survived by his wife Treva Tucker of the home. His son James Stanton, Jr and wife Kimberly Kay of Greenville, TN, his daughter Whitney Rene Ochili of Vernon, Texas. Three grandchildren Joshua Aaron Tucker of Greenville, TN., David Ifeanyi Ochili of Vernon, Texas, and Rachel Ngozi Ochili of Vernon, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Gwendolyn Whitman.
Visitation will be Tuesday October 18, 2022 at 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
