Biography

William Tucker was born circa 1751, in Randolph County, North Carolina and was residing in Randolph County, North Carolina at the time of the American Revolutionary War. William took the Oath of Allegiance to the newly formed United States of American, in 1779. [1]

William Tucker is honored for his Patriotic Service by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as DAR Ancestor #A104295. DAR Records indicate that William died before February 3, 1812, in Randolph County, North Carolina, and that his wife's name was Mildred (maiden name not given). Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of his son, Jesse Tucker, who married Elizabeth Eddelman; and of his daughter, Amey Rosalee Tucker, who married Lewis Wesley Needham. William Tucker is found on the First Census of the United States, published in 1790 from 1781 tax records. [3] On the 1800 Census, William is residing in Hillsboro, Randolph County, North Carolina. [4] [5]

In 1813, in the November Term of the Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions, William's son-in-law, Lewis Needham sued Nathaniel Tucker, administrator of William Tucker's estate for his portion that was due him as the husband of William's daughter. [6]
